Watch GH’s Nicholas Chavez in the First Trailer for Monsters!

Tags:

After that brief little clip used to announce the release date, Netflix has finally released a proper teaser for Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story where General Hospital fans can finally get a glimpse of Nicholas Chavez (ex-Spencer) in the role of Lyle Menendez!

The teaser begins with Chavez’s Lyle and Cooper Koch’s Erik standing behind their parents, Kitty and Jose, played by Chloë Sevigny and Javier Bardem. They’re taking a professional family photo but no one is smiling and when they do, it’s super creepy. In fact, Erik doesn’t even want to put his hand on his father’s shoulder. In voiceover, Kitty says she wants to know the truth and Jose vows to fix the family. After the parents leave the set, a flashbulb goes off and Lyle and Erik are seen embracing in the dark. Then, after a gunshot goes off, blood splatters across Lyle’s face.

The first season of Ryan Murphy’s true-crime series was titled Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story and starred Evan Peters as the infamous serial killer. This second series is called Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story and premieres on Netflix on Thursday, Sept. 19.

News that Chavez had landed the starring role in the series broke back in June 2023 and in January 2024, the actor exited GH when his character of Spencer was presumed dead after falling into a river in France. While fans expected Spencer to resurface very much alive, reports surfaced in April that the exit would, in fact, be permanent, and in May, Chavez himself spoke out about his exit.

Fans of the Daytime Emmy Award winner can enjoy him twice as much in September, because in addition to Monsters premiering on Netflix, Chavez will also be seen playing Father Charlie in another Ryan Murphy-produced series, Grotesquerie, premiering on FX on Wednesday, Sept. 25! (This series also features Chavez’s real-life girlfriend, Victoria Abbott!)

So while Spencer is still dead on GH, Chavez’s fans can look forward to seeing the talented actor in two new projects coming up and who knows how many more in the future!
