The casting shakeups in Port Charles continue — amidst some high-profile returns comes a high-profile exit as Michael Easton (Finn) announces he’s leaving General Hospital! The actor shared a video on social media taken late at night just outside the GH studio building where he sadly broke the news to his loyal fans.

“I’ve always been partial to the Irish goodbye,” he said, “That’s where you leave the party without actually telling anyone you’re gone. But I thought you all deserved better. So I just want to let you know that I just filmed my final scenes here at General Hospital.

“I’ve loved every minute that I’ve been here,” he continued. “I want to thank the entire cast and crew for allowing me to share their stage this past 10 years. Most importantly, I want to thank all of you for the kindness and love you’ve shown me and my family. I won’t ever forget you. And as I walk out of here for the last time, and with apologies to Lou Gehrig, I feel like the luckiest man on the face of the Earth.”

Easton made his daytime debut as Tanner Scofield on Days of Our Lives from 1991-92, but found his breakout role playing the popular vampire Caleb Morley on GH spinoff Port Charles from 2001-03. After this, the actor moved over to One Life To Live to play Detective John McBain, and when that soap ended in 2012, he brought the character over to GH.

Unfortunately, legal issues prevented GH from continuing to use the OLTL characters it had crossed over and John was written out and Easton began playing the new role of Dr. Silas Clay in 2013. After that character was killed off in 2015, Easton went on to portray another new character, Dr. Hamilton Finn. He earned a Daytime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor in 2018 for his work.

With Finn being pushed to go to rehab on GH, it’s likely that he’ll be leaving the canvas soon and Easton’s video was shot after he filmed his final scenes last month. But at this time, a final air date has not yet been confirmed. Please join us in wishing him all the best and keep checking back here at SoapsInDepth.com for future updates on his career so you’ll know where to see him next!
