On June 19, General Hospital posted a “Happy Juneteenth” message on social media, which came one day after the soap made a very serious post in response to recent racist attacks on one of its stars, Tabyana Ali (Trina).
“General Hospital does not tolerate hatred or bigotry of any kind,” the soap declared. “Racism has no place in Port Charles. GH is for everyone.”
Back on June 9, Ali made a series of posts on Twitter/X responding to some hateful posts directed at her on social media. At the time, many of her co-stars joined fans in supporting the actress. ”I love you, Tabyana,” wrote Maura West (Ava). “I admire your strength and loving, open heart. You are a shining example of the best of humanity.”

Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis) also spoke out, quoting Ali’s post and adding: “You hide behind a profile pix and spew hatred and racism at Tabyana, you spew it at every cast member of GH and we condemn and reject it. We stand by our friend and colleague in her dignified and gracious response. There’s no place for racism of any kind in our beloved GH community.”
Some GH cast members also reposted the soap’s statement denouncing the racist attacks on Ali. Jon Lindstrom (Kevin) and Laura Wright (Carly) shared it on Twitter/X, and Wright, Jacqueline Grace Lopez (Blaze), and Kate Mansi (Kristina) were among those who shared the message on their Instagram Stories.
Although Ali was not specifically named in GH’s statement, Soap Opera Digest is reporting that a setside source told them that ABC has been working with Ali and her reps on how to handle the awful and hateful attacks. Responding to GH’s post on Twitter/X, Ali wrote: “I appreciate you so much, ABC/GH 🥹💕.”
